Kristian hails from Manchester, England and has now been living in the US and specifically the Skagit county since 2010. He has experience playing in England, Spain and the USA, notably stints in the premier league club academy Norwich City, Santa Brigida FC in Spain and playing in a strong Liverpool John Moores team. Pursuing his passion for the game and also love for coaching he went on to gain his certificates with his USSF “A” license, NSCAA Director of coaching Certificate and the NSCAA Premier diploma. Kristian also holds a Degree in Science & Soccer from Liverpool John Moores University.
Kristian had a big vision for Northwest United FC and the Skagit County soccer community seeing its vast potential. Today we can see the large growth here at the club. Kristian played an instrumental role in the success that Northwest United has built over the last 10 years, providing a unique club wide curriculum and philosophy for player and team development. This has been yielding high level results and consistently giving success on and off the field. The club has been recognized across the state in helping build our players to become not only top players, but also genuine good people. This is further demonstrated with the number of quality teams the club has produced, with players going on to have very established soccer careers. As a coach Kristian has taken teams to State and National tournaments, with his teams displaying a great brand of Soccer and success on the field. The players showcasing high level technical skill and tactical knowledge.
Former Seattle Sounders Academy coach Marc Nicolls and now Charlotte FCs technical director said about Kristian and the partnership/Affiliation they have had with the club “We share the same ideas regarding player development and the promotion of talent, as well as the impact from a community aspect. With the direction of Kristian Powell and the progressive board it is no surprise that NWU and Kristian have grown from strength to strength.”
Coaching Manuel technical director Paul Bright said this of Kristian “Kristian is an authentic, humble and conscientious person who understands and prioritizes the development of the person as well as the player, when working with players of all ages in the game. He has also had success feeding players into higher level play with High school college, National team and professional”
Kristian has a daughter Lena who loves to play and loves being part of NWU! Has three brothers and a sister. With a Dog Roque! Loves to be an active member in the community with his United Project.
